Description: Singapore Garden Festival, the Premier
International Garden and Flower Show in the Tropics to bring
together and showcase creations from the world's top award-winning
garden and floral designers under one roof, returns on 25
July to 1 August 2008.The truly cosmopolitan Singapore Garden
Festival in 2006 was a roaring success, having received accolades
from overseas horticultural experts, rave reviews from more
than 200,000 visitors from Singapore and around the world,
and full support from the industry. This pre-eminent event
has been established as a top international flower and garden
show in the tropics, further enhancing Singapore's reputation
as a garden city in the tropics.

Place :Drama Centre Theatre, Drama Centre Black Box, Esplanade
Theatre Studio
Description: Dubbed "the main event in the world
of the art" by The Straits Times, all 14 plays featured
in the festival will be World Premieres, and W!LD RICE will
be joined by other theatre companies such as The Theatre Practice,
DramaBox, panggung (ARTS), and Magdalena (Singapore), presenting
a hugely varied and exciting lineup. Directors including Ivan
Heng, Samantha Scott-Blackhall, Aidli 'Alin' Mosbit, Paul
Rae, Jonathan Lim and Wu Xi. |

Description: The Hungry Ghosts Festival is an ancient
Chinese tradition celebrated in diaspora communities around
the world, including Singapore. For the event, people honour
the restless spirits that they believe are temporarily let
out to roam the world at this time.To appease these poor souls,
the Singaporeans prepare sumptuous banquets and hold Chinese
street operas, or wayangs, as well as lighting rows of candles
and incense sticks in front of their homes. Look out for public
auctions of "auspicious items" that often take place
during the street banquets. |

Description: Be inspired by an astounding showcase
of over 70 paintings offering insights into the history of
the modern Chinese. The Hefner Collection is deemed one of
the most important collections of its kind in the world, having
travelled to United States and Bogota in 1995. Visitors can
look forward to masterpieces by Chinese artists Luo Zhongli,
Chen Yifei, Ai Xuan, Wang Huaiqing, Wu Guanzhong and Wang
Yidong. |

Description: The Singapore River Festival will see
the historic district dazzle with nightly festivities. Already
a draw for tourist by day, many of whom visit for its inherent
historical charm and landmarks, the Singapore River is also
synonymous with waterfront alfresco dining, vibrant nightlife
and exciting entertainment after sundown. Highlights of the
Singapore River Festival include concerts on the river featuring
international and local artistes, outdoor parties, a special
exhibition on Vietnam’s unique 2,500- year history which will
also showcase rare art treasures, food and beverage promotions
and a parade of floats on the river, alongside party places
such as Ministry of Sound at Clarke Quay, IndoChine Waterfront
at Empress Place and home-grown dance icon Zouk. |

organising a special visual arts exhibition in its gallery
featuring masterpieces by European Masters like Pablo Picasso,

a few. There will also be a special outdoor exhibition of
monumental sculptures taking place along Orchard Road and
the Singapore River, featuring Fernando Botero, Georges Braque,
Jean Dubuffet, Niki de Saint Phalle, Robert Indiana and Bernar
Venet , amongst other 20th century Contemporary Masters. |

Description: will be a watershed year for Singapore's
motoring industry. In less than 10 months, F1 makes history
when it comes to Singapore with its first ever night race.
There is already an air of immense anticipation and palpable
excitement as Singaporeans can finally see their favourite
F1 cars and drivers up close. For the first time in tis 16-year
history, the much lauded Singapore Motorshow will be brought
forward from November to September to coincide with the F1
race weekend. And with the location unchanged at Suntec Singapore,
the show is right in the thick of the action! This is a great
opportunity for all to capitalise on the fervour that is bound
to tsweep across the Marina Square/Suntec area, as well as
all across the island as Singaporeans welcome possibly the
biggest event of 2008 |
