Built in Singapore, by people who live here
SingaporeHotel.com is operated by AutoSites (AUSI) Pte Ltd, a Singapore-registered travel technology company, and led by co-founder Dennis van Noord — a travel industry executive with more than 20 years in online travel across Booking.com, Vrbo (Expedia Group), Rakuten Travel Xchange and Mystifly. Every guide on this site is written from the perspective of someone who actually lives with the MRT map, the hawker queues and the afternoon downpours.
Why Dennis calls Singapore home
Dennis moved to Singapore in 2010 for a regional role and never left. Sixteen years on, he has raised his family here, built two businesses here, and still argues that no other city in Asia combines livability and ambition the same way. In his words:
"The honest answer is that Singapore made the decision easy. My kids grew up taking the MRT to school on their own — that kind of everyday safety is something you stop noticing until you travel elsewhere and miss it. We live between four cultures without thinking about it: Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali and Christmas are all part of our calendar, and so are the foods that come with them. On a normal weekend we might have breakfast at a kopitiam, lunch at a hawker centre that holds a Michelin listing, and dinner somewhere new — the eating here genuinely never runs out. Orchard Road and the neighbourhood malls mean the shopping is as good as anywhere in the world, but it is the practical things that keep us: a health system that is efficient, affordable and genuinely excellent when it matters, and an administration that plans decades ahead — you can see it in everything from the MRT lines announced years in advance to how the city keeps adding green space instead of losing it. Singapore works, and it keeps getting better. That is why it is home."
What that means for this site
Sixteen years of living here shapes how we write. We tell you which hawker stalls are worth a queue and which are tourist pricing. We recommend hotels by neighbourhood the way we would to visiting friends: where the MRT actually gets you, what the street sounds like at night, which pools the kids will remember. And because our background is the booking industry itself, we compare real prices and real availability rather than reprinting brochures.
